Is Adoption Really an Option?
The decision to place your child for adoption can be a difficult one. However, if you feel that you are not ready to parent you may be giving the greatest gift to a family who cannot conceive children of their own. There are many families waiting to adopt infants regardless of race, including those with birth defects, genetic conditions and babies affected by drugs or alcohol.
If you are considering placing your child with a family who is looking for a baby, consider all your options carefully. There are different types of adoptions you can choose and it is best to have as much information as you can. Adoptions have advanced in recent years and they give the birthmother the power to choose the individual family and the level of birth mother interaction that you feel will be best for your child.
Pregnancy resource centers have counselors that will steer you to a reputable adoption agency. Staff at adoption agencies are skilled in providing you with all the information you need to explore adoption as an option, create your adoption plan, and place your baby with a loving family, if that is what you ultimately choose.
